If you are reading this, then you have shelter. If you are reading this you probably have family. If you are reading this, I'm guessing you have access to some sort of health care.
Think about all the good things in your life. Do you have food everyday? Do you go to school? Can you hug your friends? Your mom and dad? Can you pick up the telephone and call 911 when you are in trouble? Millions of people can't. Think about that.
I'm absolutely SICK of people taking for granted what they have. You are spoiled compared to a third of the world's population. Absolutely smothered in niceties. And not once, do I hear people just sit back and say, "Thank you." The only sounds I hear are, "more more more more more more." And that makes me so terribly incapacitated with grief and absolute rage.
If you are reading this, I hope you think about the good things in your life and be grateful for them. If you are reading this, I wish that you take some time out of your day and call up a friend, just to talk. If you are reading this, I have faith in you. If you are reading this, just be happy. It is the greatest gift of all.

Great, great post!
Great post. It's completely true; it's easy to let the little things slip from your mind. And we complain for what we don't have, but rarely think of the things we DO. I think everyone, to some extent, takes the things they have for granted. It's impossible to feel thankful for something 100% of the time. But to try and realize what you have, and not complain as much? It's something we should all work on.
I am always thankful when the technology that connects me to the Internet is actually working. So often it doesn't. And yes, you are right, we are so ridiculously blessed. Thank you is something we DO need to say more often.
Wow, everything you said is true. I know I take a lot of things for granted. I agree that everyone should say "thank you" more often.
Ah-greed! You go!
Everything you said is so true. I think everyone, at least once, has thought of what they didn't have and wanted it, when they have food, water, a shelter, family to always be there and support them. Things may be bad, but that's no reason to whine and be ungrateful. You should be grateful for what you have.
Thank you for posting this, Emily. It's amazing and well said.
hope.
Thanks everyone. I wasn't sure what the reaction to this was going to be, and I am very pleased by what I see here. Thanks for taking it so well! I want to make sure that everyone knows it is NOT an accusation against them. It is just an observation of mine. I know you all are great people (: And also, I know I need to work on this too. I am absolutely not saying I am perfect in any way shape or form. I just want the world to be a little bit happier.
I know exactly what you mean. That old saying "You don't know what you've got till it's gone" is soo true. People can be soo selfish and I can be too, but I don't think I'm that bad. I'm from Africa and we would have killed to have half the things people have stashed in their garages and stuff. It's really rather sad. But yea, taking things for granite is something I'd say we all have trouble with.
=)

Well said. And I agree.
